A very common but unpleasant problem in horses is the accumulation of sand in the intestines. It is especially seen in horses in paddocks, sand/dirt paddocks, paddocks with little grass and during dry summers, where the horses consume more sand than desired. Sand can also be taken in when the horse is on full grass or via straw feed. Therefore, in all cases, it is important to regularly support the removal of sand from the intestines.

Psyllium remember
Psyllium husk has been shown to help support the removal of sand from the intestines. When the flea seed shells come into contact with intestinal fluid, it turns into a jelly-like gel. This gel attracts sand and soil and transports them out of the intestines.

Tips for removing sand

Feeding rules

Feed recommendation per day

Sand in the fertilizer

• Pony (300 kg): 100 g
• Horse (600 kg): 200 g

When a check of the manure shows that there is sand present in the manure, you can feed with Pavo SandClear according to the advice for one week. Repeat the fertilizer test after that week. If sand is still present in the manure, feed SandClear again for one week and repeat until the sand is removed.

Tip! Carry out the fertilizer test at least three days in a row for a representative result. One good test is no guarantee of a sand-free gut.

Maintenance

• Pony (300 kg): 50 g
• Horses (600 kg): 100 g

In case of maintenance use, please feed with Pavo SandClear for one week, once a month.

Instructions

Mix Pavo SandClear with the usual feed or with a mash. If mixing with mash or any other soaked feed, add Pavo SandClear just before feeding (do not let it soak).
