We tend to want our horses to be plump and often too fat, but there are all sorts of health risks associated with being overweight, such as an increased risk of severe colic, insulin resistance and lameness. Feeding is one of the three pillars of the Pavo InShape Program. If you are trying to get your horse to lose weight, it is – just like with humans – important to prevent muscle breakdown. When your horse moves more, the muscles are also put to work. Then extra protein is needed to help restore the muscles after work and prevent the breakdown of muscle mass, which the body will do as a replacement source of energy. You can compare it to us humans drinking a protein shake when we (suddenly) exercise more. In addition to roughage, your horse has sufficient Pavo InShape.

Pavo InShape is a complete vitamin-enriched muesli with natural antioxidants and specially developed to optimally support horses when they need to lose weight. Feeding rules

In addition to roughage, give daily 150 grams of Pavo InShape per 100 kilos of body weight if you follow the Pavo InShape Program and are trying to get your horse to lose weight. For a pony (300 kilos) it will be 450 grams per day, for a horse (600 kilos) it will be 900 grams per day. Spread it, if possible, over several meals per day.
